Vince Dickinson - Electric/Acoustic/Resonator Guitarist, Bassist, Lyricist, Songwriter

vince2

I've been playing guitar for almost twenty years, and I've played in all types of bands - from blues to heavy metal to dixieland to folk. But my main love is definitely blues. I like to blend the jazz-flavored sophistication of T-Bone Walker with the aggressive, firey energy of SRV and the genre-blending craziness of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. I get comparisons to Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers, which tickles me pink, as he and Duane are some of my biggest influences. I grew up listening to heavy metal and hard rock, so I definitely find it fun to visit that side of the fretboard from time to time as well.

On the low-end, I played bass with a previous incarnation of Zeyer and regularly gigged with Chicago's own Jen Dainton, in addition to laying down tracks on my own solo work. I absolutely love playing bass. It's what gives many songs their feeling, movement and power. Without a strong bass line, you can hang it up.

My songwriting is definitely inspired by Lucinda Williams. Once I got hooked on her, I really discovered the power of lyrics. My blues and classic rock background influences my writing as well, and my songs span rock, blues, country and folk. I try to craft interesting, intelligent-yet-accessible wordplay with an honest, rootsy musical foundation.

I'd love to play guitar or bass you your songs - feel free to contact me at vince@zeyerband.com. I can provide acoustic, electric and resonator guitar as well as electric bass.
