New Songs? I'll Take 'Em!

My creative flow had slowed down quite a bit at the end of 2006, and I was planning on spending 2007 recording the best material we've written over the last couple of years. Which is still the overall plan. But somehow, I've managed to write a bunch of new material. I think seeing Lucinda Williams a few weeks ago really got me fired up. I've got three new country/blues/folk numbers that I think turned out really well. Particularly a slow country number called "That Makes Me Feel All Right." Hopefully I'll have a demo of that up for you soon, along with lyrics. I've also spent as much time as possible recording. One of my favorite post-Zeyer-album songs that Stephanie and I wrote, "Car Salesmen" is finally underway. I've got the basic drums, rhythm guitars, bass, and Stephanie's awesome vocals all done. It's one of those songs that I kind of forgot about for a while. But when we played it again after a couple of years, it really clicked, and I knew it had to get recorded.

On the downside, my day job is getting really busy. We're in "alpha" now, so I usually only have one day per week to work on new songs, update the website, practice, write, etc. But things are going well, and I'm plugging away, one take at a time.
