A New Year, New Goals
Last year I focused on writing. I completed about 13 songs, with a ton more in various states of disarray. This year, my goal is to polish what I have, and to finish recording and mixing all my best music so I have something presentable. I want to get all the drum tracks done, get top quality vocal takes, and get the songs CD-ready. I ordered some new drum plugin software, so I should be able to get going on this soon. I have way more than an album's worth of good stuff from the last three years so I think our next CD is really going to be something special. I've also been working on a number of rock instrumentals in the vein of Cupcake Wants Dinner, so maybe you'll here those on a podcast or RC video.

I also worked on my '57 reissue strat over the holidays. I put in String Saver saddles, did a complete setup, and fixed the intonation. It plays like a silky-smooth dream now, and I'm excited to get my other guitars into tip-top playing condition. I haven't been able to adjust the action lately as the screws in the saddles of almost my all of my electrics have all stripped out. I also *finally* got around to ordering some feeler gauges so I can see exactly what string height I'm dealing with, rather than just eyeballing it. =). I'd like to start doing setups for other people once I get a little more experience and practice on my own instruments.

I've been listening to a lot of classical music lately. Stephanie and I watched a music history course on DVD that was really interesting, and piqued my interest in a few composers (Josquin de Prez in particular). Good stuff, and something a little different. I also picked up Widespread Panic's "Ball" from the library, and I've been digging that. I only have one other album of theirs, but I like the band.
